War is something we have always understood as a fight for freedom. We defend our country and take pride in the meaning of our flag and culture. Not to mention the countless number of lives that are lost to this day from war and “collateral damage” respectfully. We know the thought of being attacked or terrorists strike fear in our hearts about the possibility of being invaded. Wars date back to as far as any of us can remember. Have you ever asked yourself what is the true purpose of it all? Why are we killing each other? Why do atomic bombs threaten our very existence? This reminds me of a quote by Martin Luther King. “We have learned to fly the air like birds and swim the sea like fish, but we have not learned the simple art of living together as brothers.” Wow, can you even imagine? People, humans actually getting along? There might be a greater chance that aliens get us first!
Living in America I have come to the conclusion that the root of people’s actions almost always involve money. If you want to get to the intention of anything especially with companies, the government, or even that guy or girl that gives you a compliment. There is always a motive. Rarely, but I do occasionally see people do things just out of the good of their hearts. Let’s be realistic here though when we refer to war. Money is power. War is a profit for power. Innocent people die over a profit. We as citizens of course feel fearful of attackers which is the whole point. What excuse would there be for war if the people had nothing to fear? Politicians, governments, or even your significant other intentions can be hidden through the ambiguity in which they knowingly speak. Let’s just call this being “politically correct.” Negative information sticks with us. That’s why it’s so easy for the media to ruin someones career, known as character assassination. In relation to war, I can show a bit of sympathy for most Muslims who have nothing to do with the war. But are illogically the ones that the anger is taken out upon. We see things on TV and simply react to them allowing anyone who controls the TV, to control us. Malcolm X was once quoted saying, “If you’re not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” Check out the video below for a bit of info of how money is the motive.
